Catalogue Raisonné on the works of Dame Laura Knight and her husband Harold Knight.

John seeks your assistance if you have time.

R. John Croft FCA (pictured right), the nearest living relative to Dame Laura Knight DBE RA RWS (Laura Knight was John’s grandmother’s sister) is currently compiling a Catalogue Raisonné of the artist’s work and the works of her husband Harold Knight.

The catalogue concentrates on the artist’s oil and watercolour paintings, but will also include some of her well known drawings, etchings and
aquatints, particularly those of famous people and events e.g. Nuremberg Trials, famous ballet and theatre stars, authors, poetsand musicians.
As a small sub section the Catalogue will also have some details on the artists other activities that will include her ceramic, enamel, jewelry and costume design work.

The Catalogue will become the worldwide reference on the artists' works and will contain the correct titles to the artist's works, details as to the media, dimensions, provenance, if applicable where and when exhibited, and any known background to the particular work.

Within the Catalogue there will be some biographical detil, anecdotes and instances of interesting currently undocumented detail, as can only be provided by the nearest living relative, also as a result of subsequent information provided to John from relatives of the friends and aquaintances of the artist.

Over 2,000 works have been currently documented within the Catalogue. In a few cases better images are required, or more detailed background information is needed. There are possibly another 1,000 works on which basic details have still to be obtained.
There are several Public Galleries and Museums in the UK and particularly worldwide, on which information has still to be obtained as to what works they own and whether they held any exhibitions on the artist. Curators and art students assistance would be appreciated. See Public Gallery Works and Image Sources page with Acronyms in red.

Collectors and dealers are being most helpful in providing John with images and details on individual works on an almost continuous basis. John takes this opportunity in expressing his appreciation and also those numerous people and enthusiasts of the artists.
